In a move that underscores the deepening connection between academia and India’s automotive industry, VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) and IIT Indore (IITI) have formalized a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This strategic partnership is poised to facilitate the exchange of scientific insights between the two entities, serving as a catalyst for skill development in the rapidly evolving auto sector. A notable facet of this collaboration is the provision for VECV employees to pursue advanced degrees – MTech, MS(R), and Ph.D. – from IIT Indore.
The MoU was formalized through the signatures of Prof. Suhas S. Joshi, Director of IIT Indore, and Mr. Rajinder Singh Sachdeva, COO of VEC Commercial Vehicles, signifying the commitment of both parties. Speaking about the collaboration, Rajinder Singh Sachdeva articulated the scope of the initiative, envisioning a comprehensive exchange program spanning a half-decade that would bolster research and academic synergies.
For VECV personnel embarking on the MTech program, the journey commences with online coursework during the initial year. Subsequently, the second year calls for immersive project work, with options at either VECV’s plants or IIT Indore’s premises, all under the mentorship of designated thesis supervisors.
Prof. Suhas S. Joshi contextualized the partnership, highlighting its wide-ranging components including joint research endeavors, scientific mobility, knowledge sharing, and technology transfer. This collaboration will serve to enhance the training landscape for VECV employees, offer IITI students valuable internships, and facilitate an array of workshops, research projects, and consultancy initiatives.
With the alliance between VEC Commercial Vehicles and IIT Indore at its core, the stage is set for mutual growth while propelling advancements in India’s automotive sector.
