Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Energy has recently announced a significant achievement, securing orders from NTPC for the development of thermal power plants in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. The projects, totaling 4,000 MW, are part of NTPC’s ongoing efforts to enhance India’s power generation capacity.
The scope of work includes two major thermal power plant projects: a 2×800 MW Stage-II thermal power plant at Gadarwara, Madhya Pradesh, and a 3×800 MW Stage-II thermal power plant at Nabinagar, Bihar. These projects are expected to strengthen the power infrastructure in the two states, contributing significantly to the national energy grid.
L&T’s role in these projects is comprehensive, covering the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, and commissioning of key components such as boilers, turbines, and electrostatic precipitators. Additionally, the company will oversee the related mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and civil works essential for the plants’ construction and successful operation.
Subramanian Sarma, Whole-time Director & President (Energy) of L&T, expressed his enthusiasm about the project’s significance. “These critical projects highlight our expertise and reputation in delivering innovative solutions,” he said. “We deeply value the trust our clients place in us and are committed to achieving excellence. We look forward to delivering these projects within the timeline and meeting our high standards of execution.”
L&T Energy CarbonLite Solutions, a specialized division within the company, will also play a crucial role in the execution of these projects. The division leverages L&T’s extensive experience in engineering, manufacturing, and project execution, with a particular emphasis on low-carbon solutions. This aligns with L&T’s broader vision to integrate sustainable practices into the energy sector, while maintaining a high standard of operational efficiency.
The collaboration between L&T and NTPC is a testament to the former’s reputation as a leader in power generation solutions. With this order, L&T not only strengthens its position in India’s energy sector but also reinforces its commitment to delivering state-of-the-art infrastructure projects that meet the country’s growing energy demands.
As the projects move forward, L&T is set to bring its world-class engineering and execution capabilities to the forefront, ensuring the successful and timely delivery of these important thermal power plants. The company’s efforts will further contribute to the overall goal of enhancing India’s energy security and sustainability.
