Jakson Engineers Limited (JEL) has unveiled an ambitious plan to expand its solar manufacturing
footprint with an investment of nearly ₹8,000 crore in Madhya Pradesh. The move marks a major
milestone in the company’s journey towards becoming a fully integrated solar solutions provider
and supporting India’s renewable energy ambitions.
As part of this expansion, Jakson is setting up a 2.5 GW solar cell manufacturing plant, which
will be developed in two phases, along with an upgrade of its existing module production facility
to 2,000 MW. The total investment of around ₹2,000 crore in these projects is expected to
generate 1,200 new jobs in the region, significantly boosting local employment opportunities.
A Leap Towards Sustainability
The company has also announced a 6 GW solar wafer manufacturing facility under Phase II
strengthening its position as a key player in India’s solar value chain. By adopting cutting-edge
TOPCon technology, Jakson is aiming to deliver products that not only meet international
efficiency standards but also support India’s transition to cleaner, greener energy.
Speaking on the development, Sundeep Gupta, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Jakson
Group, said:
“We are thrilled to announce this substantial increase in our manufacturing
capabilities. This expansion not only strengthens our market presence but also
reinforces our long-standing commitment to sustainability. It marks another big step
towards becoming a fully integrated solar company.”
Strengthening Domestic Manufacturing
Currently, India’s solar cell manufacturing capacity stands at just 7 GW, forcing the country to
rely heavily on imports. Jakson’s expansion will play a crucial role in narrowing this gap, directly
supporting the vision of AatmaNirbhar Bharat. By building strong backward integration
capabilities, the company aims to ensure a robust domestic supply chain and reduce
dependency on overseas markets.
Future Plans
Looking ahead, Jakson Engineers is targeting to become a 5,000 MW integrated solar wafer,
cell, and module manufacturer, aligning with India’s long-term target of achieving net-zero
emissions. The first phase of the solar cell plant is expected to be commissioned within the next
15 months, while the expanded module line will be ready in just six months.
With this bold move, Jakson Engineers is not only scaling up capacity but also reaffirming its role
as a pioneer in India’s renewable energy sector—driving innovation, job creation, and
sustainability in equal measure.
