Gautam Solar Private Limited (GSPL) has unveiled an ambitious plan to boost India’s clean energy drive with a massive investment of ₹4,000 crore. The company will set up a state-of-the-art solar cell manufacturing facility in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, aiming to strengthen the country’s renewable energy infrastructure and reduce dependence on imports.
Spread across 4 acres, the project will focus on producing advanced TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) solar cells, known for their higher efficiency and durability. GSPL has already begun work on Phase 1 of the project, which includes installing a 2 gigawatt (GW) solar cell manufacturing capacity. This phase is expected to be operational by the end of 2026.
Once the first phase is complete, Gautam Solar plans to launch an Initial Public Offering (IPO) to raise funds for Phase 2, which will add another 3 GW of production capacity, bringing the total output to an impressive 5 GW. Looking ahead, the company also aims to venture into solar wafer manufacturing, creating a fully integrated solar value chain within India.
Gautam Mohanka, the company’s director, emphasized that the new facility will be among the largest solar cell manufacturing units in the country. “With the latest TOPCon technology, we want to deepen India’s domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem and reduce reliance on imported components,” he said.
This project is more than just an industrial milestone. It aligns with India’s vision of becoming self-reliant in renewable energy production while supporting the nation’s clean energy targets. Gautam Solar already operates multiple manufacturing units across India and is on track to scale its solar module capacity from the current 3.2 GW to 5 GW by the end of FY26.
By investing in cutting-edge technology and expanding production at this scale, Gautam Solar is not only creating jobs and boosting the local economy in Madhya Pradesh but also playing a key role in powering a greener, more sustainable future for the country.
