Imagine waking up to the songs of forest birds, sipping tea in a mud house by the riverside, or trekking through trails that whisper stories of ancient rock art. For travellers craving experiences wrapped in nature’s embrace, the Madhya Pradesh Ecotourism Development Board (MPEDB) has just unlocked a treasure trove — bookings are now open for 12 handpicked eco-tourism sites across the state.
Madhya Pradesh, already home to 134 notified recreation zones, is taking eco-friendly travel to the next level. From the lush greenery of Mhow and Manpur to the serene waters of Choral, and from the heritage charm of Mandav to the tranquil escapes of Dhamnod and Bhag, there’s something for every wanderer.
One of the region’s latest gems, Umri Kheda, invites guests to slow down and soak in the wilderness — with a cosy mud house, luxury tents, and even detachable tents for those who prefer flexibility in their stay.
“We’ve opened bookings for 12 eco-tourism spots and are working on proposals for many more,” shares Sunil Kumar Pandre, Additional General Manager, MPEDB.
The state’s eco-map has also grown with Magarpath in Bhopal — a thoughtfully designed space featuring tented stays, a café with a dining area, outdoor seating, and themed nature trails — all developed with an investment of ₹47 lakh. Meanwhile, Bodakho in Sehore offers a more adventurous palette: birdwatching at sunrise, trekking through rugged landscapes, uncovering rock paintings, and discovering the living traditions of tribal communities.
This new wave of eco-tourism in Madhya Pradesh isn’t just about scenic stays and adventures — it’s about connecting with nature, supporting local livelihoods, and preserving the state’s ecological treasures for generations to come.
So, whether you’re a weekend traveller or an intrepid explorer, your next nature escape might just be waiting in the heart of India.
