In a transformative move set to redefine India’s textile map, the Government of Chhattisgarh has signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI). This landmark agreement aims to turn the state into a premier hub for textile and apparel manufacturing, opening up vast avenues for investment, innovation, and employment.
The MoU was signed during the FAB Show held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, where Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai took center stage, held at the Bombay exhibition centre from 21st April to 23rd April 2025 roadmap for the textile sector. His interactions with top investors and industrialists from across the country underscored the state’s proactive commitment to industrial growth and job creation.
As part of this partnership, a state-of-the-art CMAI Textile and Apparel Facilitation Centre will be established in Raipur, offering a robust platform for industry collaboration and support. The move is expected to boost local manufacturing, skill development, and global competitiveness.
Adding further momentum, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of a National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus in Nava Raipur, with an investment of Rs 271 crore. The new campus will serve as a cornerstone for nurturing design talent and promoting innovation, reinforcing the state’s textile ecosystem.
“Our traditional fabrics like the natural Kosa silk of Bastar and Surguja have global appeal,” said CM Sai. “With institutions like NIFT and the backing of CMAI, we now have the opportunity to elevate our handloom industry to new heights through branding, innovation, and global outreach.”
He emphasized that industrialization, especially in the textile sector, is central to Chhattisgarh’s vision of development. Under its new industrial policy, the state has already attracted significant investment proposals across sectors—from MSMEs to high-tech industries like semiconductors.
The government has implemented over 350 policy reforms to ensure not only ease but speed of doing business, offering a seamless and investor-friendly environment. Special incentives, including Rs 252 crore reimbursement on a Rs 100 crore investment, have been introduced— an unmatched initiative in India’s textile landscape.
Additional support is being extended to enterprises operating in tribal regions like Bastar and Surguja, with special grants and infrastructural advantages such as cargo facilities at Raipur Airport, abundant power and water supply, and enhanced logistics through major rail and expressway projects worth Rs 48,000 crore.
Recognizing the need for skilled labor, Chhattisgarh is also investing in education. Advanced, tech-based courses in ITIs and world-class institutes like IIT, IIM, and IIIT are preparing a skilled workforce tailored to the industry’s demands.
“I invite textile entrepreneurs from across the nation to explore the boundless opportunities in Chhattisgarh. Our policies are designed to ensure that your investment not only grows your business but uplifts communities and contributes to nation-building,” the Chief Minister concluded.
The Chhattisgarh pavilion at the FAB Show showcased the state’s rich textile heritage and forward-looking infrastructure, drawing attention from stakeholders eager to be part of this new era of textile excellence.
