In a landmark development poised to revolutionize the dairy sector in Madhya Pradesh, the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Dairy Federation (MPCDF) and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) have signed a collaboration agreement to strengthen the dairy cooperative ecosystem in the state. The momentous event took place in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.
Marking a major step towards cooperative sector reform, another agreement was exchanged between NDDB Chairperson Dr. Meenesh Shah and Bhopal Divisional Commissioner Kaushlendra Vikram Singh to facilitate collaborative work between NDDB and Bhopal Dugdh Sangh.
Speaking at the event, Union Minister Amit Shah lauded the progress of India’s cooperative sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Since the formation of the Ministry of Cooperation, we’ve seen a significant transformation. Madhya Pradesh, in particular, holds immense potential for cooperative expansion,” he noted.
Shah emphasized the goal of establishing primary dairy cooperative societies in 50 percent of Madhya Pradesh’s villages over the next five years. He projected that this effort would greatly boost milk processing capacity and bring prosperity to the state’s farmers. He also welcomed the management transfer of MPCDF and its affiliated milk unions to NDDB, highlighting it as a significant step for the welfare of dairy farmers.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav echoed these sentiments, stating that under the initiative “Prosperity through Cooperation,” Madhya Pradesh is moving decisively to empower dairy farmers. “We aim to encourage milk production and ensure farmers receive fair prices by purchasing directly from them,” he said.
Yadav also announced the upcoming launch of the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Scheme, a state-level initiative aimed at boosting milk production and improving the livelihood of dairy farmers. He affirmed that all milk unions’ processing capacities will be scaled up to ensure market access and consistent income for rural communities.
Dr. Meenesh Shah, Chairman of NDDB, assured full commitment and support in achieving these goals. Under the guidance of the Union and State leadership, NDDB will focus on expanding cooperative outreach, improving milk quality at every stage, modernizing infrastructure, digitizing operations, and enhancing market presence.
Furthermore, the NDDB will work on productivity enhancement through advanced animal breeding, better nutrition and healthcare, and promote sustainable practices like biogas production, dung management, and organic farming.
With this collaboration, Madhya Pradesh is poised for a major leap in dairy development— ushering in economic growth, sustainable farming, and social empowerment across its rural heartland.
