Madhya Pradesh recently took center phase at the important Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB) in Jaipur, showcasing its rich cultural heritage and gorgeous surroundings. The event, which was prepared by the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), provided an excellent chance for the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board to connect in wide discussions aimed at increasing tourism in the county.

From May 5 to 7, GITB brought together legislature from a variety of countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Poland, Russia, France, Italy, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Mauritius, to explore Madhya Pradesh’s vast tourism potential. Meetings and discussions highlighted the state’s numerous offerings, which ranged from the stately forts of Gwalior to the tranquil lakes of Bhopal, the abundant forests of Kanha, and the remoteness of Bandhavgarh.

Bidisha Mukherjee, Additional Managing Director (AMD) of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, stated the state’s wish to create a presence on the global tourism map. “We have an excess of unique attractions and experiential tourism opportunities,” Mukherjee said, highlighting the government’s promise to promote Responsible Tourism projects that preserve inheritance and empower local communities. Intense discussions with travel industry experts, tour operators, and visitors, deeply explored various aspects of the state’s culture, heritage sites, wildlife sanctuaries, pilgrimage spots, and adventure tourism

Initiatives to support eco-tourism were also discussed, with Mukherjee highlighting the success of homestay schemes in several regions of the state, including Mandu, Maheshwar, Gwalior, Khajuraho, and tiger reserves. These projects have not only drawn international visitors but have also helped to boost the state’s rural tourist industry.

Looking ahead, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board plans to host the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO)‘s annual convention on August 30, 2024. This event is designed to boost Madhya Pradesh’s standing as a top tourism destination in India, highlighting the state’s rich cultural legacy, natural beauty, and commitment to sustainable tourism practices. With cooperation and partnerships at the forefront, Madhya Pradesh is positioned to emerge as a rising star on the world tourism map.
