Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of India’s first Prime Minister Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park at Bhainsol village in Dhar district,
Madhya Pradesh. Spanning 2,158 acres, the project aims to establish a world-class textile hub that will strengthen India’s cotton economy and elevate the country’s standing in global textile trade.
Speaking at the inauguration, which also coincided with his 75th birthday, the Prime Minister launched two flagship initiatives – Swasth Nari, Sashakt Pariwar (Healthy Women, Empowered Families) and National Nutrition Month. He underlined the park’s role in boosting employment, supporting farmers, and driving India’s export competitiveness.
World-Class Infrastructure for the Textile Value Chain
The PM MITRA Park is designed as an integrated facility offering end-to-end solutions for the textile sector. Planned features include a 20 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant, a 10 MVA solar power plant, modern road networks, uninterrupted power and water supply, and 81 plug- and-play units for immediate operations. The project also emphasizes housing and social infrastructure, particularly for women workers.
So far, 91 textile companies have been allotted 1,300 acres within the park, with cumulative
investment commitments crossing ₹23,000 crore.
The 5F Model: Farm to Foreign
The project aligns with the government’s “5F” vision – Farm → Fibre → Factory → Fashion →
Foreign – creating a seamless link between cotton farming and apparel exports. Dhar district was chosen for its proximity to cotton-growing regions and major textile hubs like Indore, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai, ensuring efficiency in logistics and market access.
Other Initiatives Unveiled
Alongside the textile park, Prime Minister Modi launched several welfare campaigns focusing on women’s health, adolescent nutrition, gender equality, education, and tribal upliftment. The initiatives include the rollout of the Suman Sakhi chatbot, distribution of the one-croreth sickle cell screening card, and direct benefit transfers under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.
With the PM MITRA Park set to transform Madhya Pradesh into a textile powerhouse, the
initiative is being hailed as a milestone in India’s journey towards becoming a global leader in
apparel and textile manufacturing.
