The new industrial area of Sector 7 in in Pithampur will be extended to over 2000 hectare from the earlier planning of around 900 hectare due to increase in investors’ proposals.
As per the revised plan, the new industrial area will come up on 2,186 hectare as against the initial plan of 979 hectare.
An investment proposal for about Rs 2000 crore from investors has been already received by Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) as they have shown willingness to set up units in the new industrial area.
The new industrial area will have a cluster for footwear industry and reserved plots for women entrepreneurs.
The department has received consents for around 500 hectare land so far and transfer of 200 hectare government land for the development of Sector 7.
The upcoming industrial area will have industrial land on 700 hectare, while the belt will have residential and commercial spaces. The work for basic infrastructure development in Sector 7 has already begun & the industry department has planned to allot land to around six industries in May. Most of these are big scale investments with a requirement of 40 to 100 acre each unit.
Commenting on the same, MPIDC executive director Pratul Sinha said, “The development plan for Sector 7 has been revised upwards to 2,186 hectare against earlier planned 979 hectare. We have received investment proposals for about Rs 2000 crore from investors so far which is expected to swell going ahead. While many have seen land, some are likely to get allotments soon.”
“We have started working as per the revised plan and have begun the basic infrastructure work at the site. We are allotting land to 6 industries in the new belt in May as industries wished to construct facilities simultaneously with the infrastructure work”, he added.
