Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has allocated Rs 23.8 crore to deploy the National e-Vidhan Application (NEVA) in the state legislature, as part of the Union government’s Digital India plan to digitize legislative processes. According to Urban Administration and Legislative Affairs Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, this move would eliminate the need for paper in legislative assemblies. Under NEVA, the Union government will provide 60% of the funds, with the state covering the remaining 40%.
In addition to NEVA, the cabinet has authorized many additional major expenditures and projects:
Scholarship Increases: The government has boosted monthly scholarships for students attending hostels, ashrams, and community welfare organizations. Boys’ scholarships would increase from Rs 1230 to Rs 1550 per month, and girls’ scholarships from Rs 1270 to Rs 1590 per month. Future modifications will be based on the price index.
New Aircraft Purchase: The cabinet has agreed to spend Rs 235 crore on a new Challenger 3500 jet aircraft to meet the state’s requirement for a dedicated aircraft. Minister Vijayvargiya emphasized the need of having an aircraft for the chief minister to fly in an emergency, citing the state’s present reliance on rental aircraft following an accident involving the last jet in 2021.
Irrigation Projects: The cabinet has sanctioned Rs 9,271 crore for seven important irrigation projects run by the Narmada Valley Development Department. These projects include:
