Godawari Power & Ispat Limited has announced its plan to set up a large-scale integrated steel
plant in Chhattisgarh, marking a major step in its expansion journey. The upcoming project
highlights the company’s focus on increasing capacity to match the rising demand for steel in
India.
The plant will be located in Sarora, in the Raipur district, and will manufacture finished steel
products like structural steel and wire rods. These materials play a crucial role in infrastructure
and construction activities, which are growing rapidly across the country.
With an estimated investment of around ₹7,000 crore, the company plans to fund the project
through a mix of internal resources and borrowed capital. This balanced approach ensures
financial stability while supporting large-scale growth.
The new facility is expected to add around 1 million tonnes per annum to the company’s
production capacity. Currently, its existing unit at Siltara is operating at over 95% capacity,
indicating strong demand and the need for expansion.
The project is likely to be completed within three to four years. Once operational, it will not only
boost the company’s output but also contribute to the local economy by generating employment
and supporting industrial development in the region.
This move clearly reflects the company’s long-term vision to strengthen its position in India’s
steel sector while aligning with the country’s infrastructure growth ambitions.
