There is a parallel universe of haunted locations that have both captivate and terrify citizen and traveller even though the state is well-known for its ancient temples and tiger harbour. In this piece, we explore the spooky tales connected with Madhya Pradesh’s top ten haunted places.

1) Bhopal’s Dow Industrial Complex:

The Bhopal Gas Tragedy is a tragic chapter in history that is memorialize by the remains of the Dow Industrial Complex. Many accounts of paranormal activity stem from the local belief that the victims’ spirits are imprisoned in the burned-out compound. Witnesses attest to the haunted nature of this location by reporting feeling an unsettling presence.

 

2) The Indore Empty Building:

An abandoned structure with a troubled history stands calmly on one of Indore’s major streets. According to legend, the structure became haunted after a woman jumped to her death from one of its heights. Unusual and unearthly occurrences followed, leading to the building’s gradual evacuation. The abandoned structure now serves as a spooky reminder of its eerie past.

3) Jabalpur’s Peepal Tree:

A peepal tree on Jabalpur’s B.T. tiraha road is said to be haunted by multiple souls. Elders from the area warn against going near the tree at night because of the presence of ghosts. The people are afraid and cautious around this tree because of its enigmatic atmosphere.

4) Bhopal’s Bhoot Bungalow:

Tucked away in Professors Colony, this location is affectionately referred to as the “Bhoot Bungalow” (Ghost House). Its early resident fatalities and ghost stories have given it an eerie reputation over the years. Even the toughest individuals will find it to be a spine-chilling place because of the persistent dark mythology and terrifying stories.

5) Indore’s Sukh Niwas Palace:

Constructed as a haven for the Holkars of Indore, the Sukh Niwas Palace has been associated with paranormal activity, earning it the reputation of being a haunted spot. The aura surrounding the palace has been enhanced by reports of inexplicable phenomenon from both residents and tourists.

6) Maihar’s Sharda Devi Temple:

At the Sharda Devi Temple in Maihar, there is a legend that those who remain inside between 2 and 5 o’clock at midnight will meet an unfortunate end at the hands of Alah and Udal, two of the goddess’s greatest admirers. People who live around the temple advise against going there during these hours.

7) Bhopal’s Indira Gandhi Hospital:

Patients and workers at Indira Gandhi Hospital in Bhopal have been telling stories about paranormal activity. The fifth level is said to be haunted by the ghosts of patients who passed away there, terrifying everyone who steps foot there. The haunting ambiance of the hospital lends validity to the reports of paranormal activity.

8) Church, Guna:

It is believed that the sounds of children sobbing reverberate from the burned and abandoned church in Guna. Residents have reported hearing voices that don’t seem to belong and other paranormal activity that they believe are related to the church’s eerie past. Ever since its terrible demise, the church has stood as a quiet reminder of its eerie past.

9) Indore’s A.B. Road Bridge:

Many accidents and incidents have been reported involving the A.B. Road Bridge in Indore, which has garnered infamy. A well-known folktale in the area describes a woman in a white saree who abruptly materializes in front of cars and then disappears a short while later. Many people are wondering about the unusual happenings that transpire after the terrifying encounters on this bridge.

10) Bhopal’s Shivpuri Fort:

Constructed about two millennia ago by Vir Khanderao, the Shivpuri Fort evokes memories of lavish dance celebrations thrown by its originator. People in the area say that these late-night gatherings are still coordinated by the ghost of Vir Khanderao, and those who are unlucky enough to attend them usually escape unscathed. The fort is a reminder of a past that isn’t ready to go to sleep.
