Chhattisgarh is taking significant steps toward strengthening its position in India’s pharmaceutical sector with the development of a dedicated pharma park in Naya Raipur. The upcoming facility, spread across nearly 1,814 acres in Sector-22, is expected to create a strong ecosystem for pharmaceutical manufacturing, research, innovation, and healthcare-related industries.
The proposed park is being developed with the aim of attracting both domestic and international pharmaceutical companies. By creating dedicated infrastructure for the sector, the state hopes to encourage new investments while supporting the growth of healthcare manufacturing within the region.
According to state officials, the pharma park will focus not only on production but also on research and development. Plans include facilities such as testing laboratories, research centres, and common infrastructure that can support pharmaceutical companies of different scales. This integrated approach could help businesses reduce operational challenges while encouraging greater collaboration and innovation.
The state government is also offering financial incentives to make Chhattisgarh an attractive destination for pharmaceutical investments. Companies setting up large-scale manufacturing facilities may benefit from investment-linked incentives and reimbursements, including support related to GST. These measures are intended to improve the overall investment environment and encourage more companies to establish operations in the state.
With the pharmaceutical industry continuing to expand across India, Chhattisgarh sees an opportunity to become an important contributor to the sector. Increased investment could lead to new manufacturing capabilities, stronger supply chains, employment opportunities, and greater economic activity across the state.
The development also aligns with Chhattisgarh’s broader focus on improving healthcare accessibility. The state already provides free treatment to more than 77 lakh families through the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Health Scheme, with plans to expand its coverage to around 1 crore families in the future.
Together, these initiatives reflect a broader vision of connecting pharmaceutical manufacturing with healthcare development. If successfully implemented, the Naya Raipur pharma park could position Chhattisgarh as an emerging pharmaceutical destination while contributing to both industrial growth and improved healthcare access.
