Akzo Nobel India began commercial manufacturing of powder coating products from their new factory in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, on September 5, 2024. This cutting-edge plant, with an initial capacity of 5,166 tons per year, represents a significant milestone in Akzo Nobel’s ambitions to expand its manufacturing presence in India. The company’s purpose is to better service the powder coating business, especially in North and Eastern India, where demand is quickly increasing.

The decision to site the factory in Gwalior is crucial since it improves access to major markets and enables for more efficient distribution. The firm has announced that it will assess the possibility of boosting the plant’s production capacity in the future, depending on market conditions. Powder coatings are critical in industries such as automotive, construction, and home appliances, thus the factory will play an important part in satisfying this growing demand.

Akzo Nobel India invested Rs 105 crore in the new plant, which was wholly supported by internal accruals. This large investment demonstrates the company’s trust in India’s burgeoning market and dedication to provide high-quality powder coating products to local industry. By increasing manufacturing capacity, Akzo Nobel hopes to assure a consistent supply of products to its clients while maintaining excellent service standards.

The Gwalior factory is expected to improve service levels for Akzo Nobel clients by reducing production turnaround time and increasing logistical efficiency. By focusing on local production, the firm will be able to respond to changing market conditions and provide more specialized solutions to its diversified clientele in North and Eastern India.

This new factory is part of Akzo Nobel’s overall aim to expand its operations in India and better address the rising demand for powder coatings. With the opening of this plant, Akzo Nobel is well positioned to expand its market presence and contribute to the region’s industrial growth.
