CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd. has taken a major step in expanding its power equipment manufacturing capabilities with the rollout of the first power transformer from its new greenfield facility in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh. The development marks an important milestone for the company as it looks to strengthen its presence in the high-voltage transformer market and support the growing requirements of India’s power infrastructure.
The Sehore facility has been developed on land allocated by the Madhya Pradesh government and is designed to manufacture transformers in the 220 kV to 1200 kV range. With a planned annual capacity of around 45,000 MVA, the plant is expected to significantly increase CG Power’s overall transformer manufacturing capabilities once it becomes fully operational. The company is investing approximately ₹792 crore in the expansion, reflecting its focus on building capacity for the rapidly developing energy and infrastructure sectors.
The new facility is expected to serve a wide range of applications, including power utilities, renewable energy projects, railways and data centres. As electricity demand continues to rise and India accelerates investments in transmission networks and clean energy infrastructure, the requirement for high-capacity transformers is also increasing. CG Power’s expanded production capabilities are aimed at helping the company respond to these emerging opportunities in both domestic and international markets.
The rollout of the first transformer was also highlighted as an important development for Madhya Pradesh’s industrial ecosystem. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav attended the event and emphasised the facility’s potential contribution to the state’s high-voltage transmission equipment manufacturing capabilities. CG Power Chairman Vellayan Subbiah also noted the growing demand for power infrastructure and the opportunities emerging across India and global markets.
With operations spanning transformers, motors, switchgears, signalling systems and other electrical technologies, CG Power has built a diverse industrial portfolio supported by manufacturing facilities in India and Sweden. The Sehore expansion further strengthens this portfolio and positions the company to play a larger role in India’s evolving power transmission, renewable energy and infrastructure landscape.
