Madhya Pradesh is steadily emerging as an important destination for advanced manufacturing, clean energy and digital infrastructure. A major step in this direction has been the launch of two modern manufacturing facilities at Pithampur’s Smart Industrial Park, backed by an investment of around ₹850 crore. The projects, established by the Pratap Group, focus on two rapidly growing sectors: advanced optical fibre and battery energy storage systems.
The first facility, Corsis Industries, is designed to manufacture optical fibre for applications across broadband connectivity, 5G networks, fibre-to-the-home services, data centres, smart cities and strategic communication infrastructure. With an annual production capacity of approximately 5.5 million fibre kilometres, the plant is expected to contribute to the growing demand for reliable and high-speed digital connectivity in India. Its development also reflects the increasing importance of domestic manufacturing as the country expands its digital infrastructure.
The second facility, established by Walters Technologies, focuses on Battery Energy Storage Systems and lithium-ion battery solutions. Spread across a large industrial area, the plant has a production capacity of around 3 GWh and incorporates Industry 4.0 automation and robotic technology. Such facilities are becoming increasingly important as India expands renewable energy generation and requires efficient ways to store electricity for use when demand is high.
Beyond technology and manufacturing, the investment also carries significant employment potential. The two facilities are expected to create hundreds of direct and indirect employment opportunities while providing young professionals with exposure to modern production technologies and industrial processes. This combination of investment, skill development and employment can help strengthen the local industrial ecosystem and create opportunities for the next generation of workers.
The development is also significant for Pithampur, which already has a strong industrial base. The addition of optical fibre and energy-storage manufacturing expands the region beyond traditional industries and brings it closer to emerging sectors that are expected to shape India’s future. Better connectivity, industrial infrastructure and its position within major logistics networks further support Pithampur’s potential as a manufacturing hub.
Together, these facilities represent more than just new factories. Optical fibre supports the country’s digital transformation, while battery storage strengthens the transition towards cleaner and more reliable energy. With investments moving towards advanced technologies, Madhya Pradesh is positioning itself to play a larger role in India’s manufacturing, connectivity and clean-energy ambitions.
